Is There a Future In Large ETF?

With large market capitalization or large ETF garnering scrutiny, a lot of investors are forced to go through a transformation. This transformation will hopefully make this type of investment exposed to diverse companies.

The current credit problem is here to stay for a little while even if the bailout is approved. Large cap funds major players are financials and so far, they have been the first to struggle this year in this recession. This sector aims to stand strong just in time for the economy to go up.

Large cap ETF have slowed down in the last quarter of 2008. SPDR Dow Jones Wilshire (ELR) went down 24.1 5 with its value ETF (ELV) going down on 23.2 %. It has been observed in index reports that recently many large cap ETF are having major gaps in net asset values. It always ends up that it is in the losing side. This summer, it is believed to have its value rise up again.

There are several large cap exchange traded funds to choose from. One is the SPDR (SPY). This ETF makes revenue quarterly. It is down by 10 % last year. However, with it holding 10 percent of all ETF assets higher than 70 million, it is expected to fight back at the end of the year.

iShares 500 (IVV) pays twice every year, on the other hand. It is down 10.6 % (same rate as SPDR) but costs less than .1 % of the SPDR Large ETF to maintain. iShares also is expected for a strong comeback expected this summer.

Other large cap ETFs posed for comeback are Vanguard (VV), SPDR Dow Jones (ELR), Spa Market Grader (SZG), and Rydex Russel (XLG).

With its promise for a major comeback, will investors still put their assets on this ETF?

Compared to small and medium cap ETFs, Large cap ETF is of course much expensive. A diversity in you investment portfolio is good for you however, if you are not sure of the results, you must think twice before investing.

Current major markets promise great revenue to great net creditors such as large ETF as compared to small cap companies that doesn’t have the same power of bureaucracy. The best thing to do with the unpredictable trend of large cap ETF is to observe and see when they come back to the high profit race again. Then will be the time to put an investment on a large cap ETF for the benefit of your portfolio.

Check on the long-term and short-term trends of the large ETFs. For example, research on the risk and trends of large companies like Altria (MO), McDonald’s (MCD), and Verizon (VZ). All of these companies suffer low payout at the end of 2008 but is expected to jump profit now that the economy is starting to rise.

Is there a future in investing in large ETF? Only the trends will show. If the trends are reading well for the large company, then it is time to rebalance your investment portfolio assets.
